Vintiquers' Transformations
At Vintiquers we pride ourselves in seeing the beauty in some of the most unloved treasures, we work hard to restore and renew these treasures. The pictures below are just a few examples of the transformations that we have done. To catch up with some of the latest transformations, give us a follow on our Instagram account, here.
This small set of drawers went unloved and undiscovered for many years until we found them. The paint removal technique here is not for the faint-hearted! It involves burning off the old paint, which is often mixed with lead or tar. Then lots and lots of sanding and elbow grease later, we have something special!
Working with different materials can often be daunting. On this occasion we were restoring this Napoleon III box, which has tortoiseshell insets. The box needed extensive repairs and can be repaired a little further if desired. However it is a huge improvement from the box which we found.

It seemed as though this box had lived its life in the sea - it was heavily water damaged, and all of the veneer was damaged beyond saving. The box turned out well in the end!
Can you believe that no one wanted the box when we purchased it? Unloved and uncared for, this box simply needed a little attention to realise its potential. Now gleaming and on show, it is now a desirable piece, fit for any home.
